Flash & Short Fiction -- Call for Work from CND/TI/OTH BIPOC, Disabled and/or Trans Creators

Thank you for submitting to Augur Magazine! We're looking forward to reading your work. Before you hit send, though, please keep in mind that this submission category is only accepting submissions from creators who are Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Disabled, and/or Trans, who are also Canadian citizens/permanent residents and/or who are living within the settler-defined borders of the land colonially known as Canada. We are tracking Canada-related information for granting purposes, and we are opening to submissions for these particular voices because we would like to consider more pieces by authors at these intersections for our upcoming issues. We are currently accepting themed submissions for Issue 6.2: Fancy & Fantasy. Give us your most gorgeous fairy tale retellings, your most earnest and subversive fables. Introduce us to your beloved mythical creatures; your trans mages and gay knights; your deeply immersive worlds and dreamworlds and underworlds. We are interested in Fantasy that reflects the reality of our world, and strongly encourage submissions that reject or subvert the colonial and/or Western lens—especially by those with diasporic and/or existing ties to the space and culture they are writing about. Additionally, here are a few things to keep in mind for fiction submissions: - Submit in standard manuscript format - Do not include your name anywhere in the document for anonymous reading - Place content warnings under the title of your manuscript - Your cover letter should include: recent publishing history (if any), relationship to Canada/Turtle Island (citizen/settler, Indigenous, resident, etc.), intersectional identity (only if comfortable disclosing), and whether your submission is simultaneous - Do not submit any story over 5, 000 words - Do not submit more than two (2) stories for any given submission period, to a total of 4 pieces across genres - Please send a note to augurmag@gmail.com if your piece is accepted elsewhere, and withdraw the piece on Moksha! We pay $0.11 cents (CAD) per word for short fiction (1000+ words), and a flat fee of $110.00 per flash fiction piece (Under 1000 words). To keep this bi-annual magazine going, we offer digital subscriptions! If you'd like to see what we're up to, you can grab one here: http://www.augurmag.com/subscribe/
